Warren Hall High

The Warren Hall High School was founded by Daniel Edgar Warren-Kidd Sr. On April 10, 1935 at 10 Barnett Street, St. James, and Montego Bay, Jamaica West Indies. The school was later relocated to the capital city of Kingston.

At the inception, the institution was named O.K. College until 1955 when it was renamed Warren Hall High School.

Initially, the school was formed with some fifteen (15) students most of which were the children of Chinese immigrants. The school later expanded by embracing a wide cross section of Jamaican children.

Warren Hall as a pioneer Private High School in Jamaica was a Registered Independent High School under the Ministry of Education, Jamaica.

During the period 1989-1991, the school’s second principal, Daniel Edgar Warren-Kidd Jnr. (son of the founding principal), served as the President of the Jamaica Independent Schools’ Association (JISA).

The institution was the first Independent High School to offer Full Scholarships and Half Scholarships to the less fortunate in the society as well as providing private boarding accommodation for rural students.

Many famous and prominent Jamaicans from all walks of life have passed through the walls of the institution. Among them are politicians such as, The Most Honourable Portia Simpson-Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica. Former Senator, Prudence Kidd-Deans JP, Vincent Morrison, former President of the National Workers Union. Medical doctors, engineers, bankers, accountants, members of the Security Forces, nurses, a host of educators (to include Principals and Education Officers), personnel in the music and entertainment industry, among other careers.
