March08thWed Student Visa

A student visa is necessary for all non-Jamaican citizens who are accepted to and can provide evidence of being accepted to a tertiary institution recognized by Jamaica’s Ministry of Education. If you are a Caricom or Commonwealth citizen you don’t need a visitors visa to land in Jamaica but will be required two weeks after landing to upgrade their landing stamp by virtue of an extension of stay at the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency.

If you are from a country that requires a visa (see our visa requirements page) you must acquire a general visitors visa before arrival followed by an extension of stay upgrade at the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency. These non-Caricom and non-Commonwealth students must provide their letter of acceptance, proof of funds for the duration of stay and a return ticket to the immigration officers on arrival.
